Best food in Volcano, but you'll pay for it.
Volcano has very few places to eat, and they close on random nights - on the night we went, this was the only one open. Be prepared to pay near-Oahu-hotel-level prices for very good but not outstanding food & drinks. Popular and good, though.
My partner and I had a terrific dinner here while on a couple day excursion to Volcano. Made a quick reservation nice and easy and the staff even made a personalized card for our anniversary! That was such a nice touch. The lodge is very beautiful and we particularly had a good time with the differing YMCA call outs within the fireplace. The food and drinks were adequate fare for Hawaii. Would highly recommend for anyone planning to stop through.
This is a beautiful building with big windows on one side with lovely window seats. The Lodge used to be a favorite restaurant of mine. It seems that they have slipped a little. The table we were sat at was drafty right by the door, and half the table was exposed to the kitchen door and noise of the kitchen. There seemed to be enough room in the lodge to reposition the tables to avoid this dilemma. I had the New Zealand lamb chops which were delicious but the jasmine rice served with it was undercooked. The mahimahi was topped with a ton of tartar right on top, which was not listed on the menu.
Stopped by here after a trip to Volcanos National Park. Beautiful lodge with great history. A must-see for any new visitors to this area. The gift shop is the best around! This is the 4th time I've been to this place since the late 1980s, and regardless of ownership change, it is still a great stop.
We ate at the restaurant and the food was fantastic. I had the fresh catch. The fish was blackened and cooked perfectly. The potatoes were simple but perfect and the vegetables were seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Were warm but still had some crunch on the bite. The wait staff was great as well. Very kind.
The Kilauea Lodge restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere and very speedy, friendly service. We ordered lilikoi tea and an Old Fashioned for our drinks. The lilikoi tea was bitter and didn't have the fresh fruity flavor I expected from an island fruit tea. The Old Fashioned was fine. We had the coconut brie for an appetizer, which was a big chunk of lovely gooey cheese coated in crunchy coconut. It was served with a warm, soft bread and apple butter. I would have preferred a stronger flavored jam like fig or guava to complement the brie. For dinner we had 1) the fresh fish special, which was delicious --- cooked just right and served with potatoes and cauliflower, a nice combination, and 2) the seafood risotto, which was disappointing. The shellfish were dry and overcooked, with no seasoning. The risotto was just cheesy, with little seafood flavor. The banana cake for dessert was fresh and delicious.
Wow!! I can’t think of one bad thing to say about this place!
This place is like stepping onto an old Hawaiian plantation!!!! Such a cool place! The food was awesome and fresh! The service was amazing!!!
They have a gift shop that has just about everything in it!! I would highly recommend this place!! It is worth stoping bye!!!
I will definitely go back to this wonderful place!! 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Kilauea Lodge is our favorite Volcano restaurant. Set in the center of Volcano Village, it’s easy to find and has such a cozy vibe. The food is spectacular considering the limited restaurant choices in Volcano Village, and dinner is priced …
